Jill Spratt {Women On A Mission}

Wholehearted. Purpose Driven. Love.

I first met Jill when I was 15 years old. It seems that no matter where I go in my life she appears at just the right time. But I'm not the only one that feels that way about Jill. She is one of those people with such a big heart, she leaves a little kindness everywhere she goes.

A great leader leads the people from within them - and that is no doubt Jill. She has the vision to help you see the big picture and the work ethic to fill up her sleeves and get in the trenches with you. Her genuine spirit can be seen in her infectious laugh and the way she stays grounded by what she most values: family.

Regardless of what life throws her way, Jill find the silver lining she needs to get sh*t done. We could all learn a thing or two from her.

In Her Own Words:

Who I Am: I am a fierce advocate, an imperfect momma, a passionate partner and a loyal friend.  When the stakes are high I relentlessly pursue my goals for myself and my family.  I am driven by my core values of community & family.

What I Believe: I am lit up so many things but the short list includes: connecting incredible women to one another - moms who tell the truth about how beautiful AND how messy motherhood can be; leaders who are willing to be vulnerable and authentically themselves; strangers who become friends through a shared passion for truth telling and love for one another.

What I Do: I am a leader in a purpose driven organization.  I am a cultural beacon and original intent gangster and I create conditions for others to thrive and develop as a whole person in all aspects of leadership, business and their lives.

How I Got Here: You mean, how did I get my bossy pants?  I guess it all started as the oldest of three girls; captain of a team; some big wins; epic failures and some really fucking lucky un-answered prayers.  Flash forward to an irresistible pull to join a movement to elevate the world,  turned into getting a masters in business, team building, leadership development and leading change.  I arrived here by saying yes, setting big goals and trusting the universe (and not always without a fight).

{Q&A with Jill}

What are you most excited to share with the world? The Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up has literally transformed my life.  It has not just helped me 'declutter' my home - it opened up a new philosophy and perspective in my life.

I run everything through the filter of whether something sparks joy, serves a purpose and has a home/space in my life.  It has also allowed me to reasonably part with people and objects of great affection and nostalgia by honoring them with gratitude and appreciation.  Living clear of mental, physical and emotional clutter has become a life long commitment.

What’s are your favorite life hack?  Marry the handsome, nice, nerdy guy who steals your heart and is guaranteed to be the best damn PARTNER who keeps getting more handsome every year.

How do you start and end your day? Washing my face and brushing my teeth :)

What does balance look like?  Yoga, red wine, great sex, enough sleep and an indulgent show on TV.

What does doing things differently look like to you?  Breaking old patterns and habits to create a new outcome.  My son is teaching us right now, how important it is that Gerry and I adapt our parenting to support his unique needs.  What worked for our daughter's development to this point is not the same approach that he requires to thrive and so we are confronted with his command and our desire to meet him where he is and throw out everything we have believed to be true to this point.  It's a humbling trial and error and worth every pivot.

What is your message to the world? To all mommas out there - you are doing an amazing job.  As a fellow momma I celebrate you in every choice you make for the good of your family and sanity. We need each other to win and I see and believe in you.

How do you handle the hard parts of marching to the beat of your own drum?  Yoga, a good cry, an even better laugh and some red wine.

Where do you find community?  On my yoga mat, at the grocery store, in the parking lot at preschool in the small moments between drop off and pick up, on social media. Community is all around me. All I need to do is see it to receive it.

How do you lean on and use your community? I have attracted the most honest tribe of women into my life and we say it straight to each other.  Whether it's time to celebrate, call bullshit, break down or stand strong, my community of women know who and how to listen for what is needed most.

What’s something that everyone loves/talks about but makes no sense to you?  The Kardashians? I don't get it.  Reality TV at large - seriously, what the fuck?

What part of your work do you enjoy the most? Being with people.

What most excites you?  The potential of my children. We are just getting started.  It's honestly terrifying and so magical.

What is your favorite book?  Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up & The Universe has Your Back.

What is the lesson you wish you could go back and teach yourself?  It's a lesson I continue to learn.  Everything is going to be OK.

WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE:

To someone who has a mission they want to start or pursue their own business?  Know what you want to get up to and then form your advisory board wisely.

Your advisory board should only be comprised by the 3-5 people in your life whom you love, trust and value the most.  You know they have your best interest in mind and will champion the hell out of you and give it to you straight.  Find those folks, lean on them constantly and blur out everyone/everything else.  All of the other feedback is just noise.

Follow your gut and listen to your advisory board.  Period.  And CELEBRATE EVERYTHING.  The wins and the failures.  It's all part of it.

To someone who is looking for her own girl gang?  Love.  Just love.
